South Africa is a beautiful country. We’re not only known for our mean potjiekos but do pretty great shisa nyama and stunningly sweet koeksisters.
However, despite our beautiful cultural and ethnic diversity, there are many misconceptions surrounding the country which we think are rather strange.
We admit plenty of aspects of our country are not perfect, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t celebrate what we already have that’s great.
Here are a few myths disguised as truths for you to consider:
- South Africa is dangerous…
Our crime statistics may be high, but there that doesn’t mean at every corner someone will be waiting to rob you. No matter where you are in the world, you should always be vigilant and observant of your surroundings. If you’ve been thinking of taking a trip somewhere, ensure you know what kind of vacation you are looking for. If you prefer an adventurous vacation, then you should book one of the Kimberly flights and visit famous tourist attractions such as the Big Hole, William Humphrey’s Art Gallery or even the Haunted Corners of Ghost Trail.
- Everything is expensive.
There are various accommodation and activities to do in the country that suits any budget. If you have a bottomless or large budget, finding a holiday is a breeze. However, if you’re looking to save a buck or two on your vacation, especially if you’re travelling in a group, then you’ll be able to find affordable destinations and activities that will not break the bank. If you’re looking for the cheapest flights to Durban and you’re travelling with kids then take them on a tour to the Durban Natural Science Museum for free. You could also visit The Golden Mile and Warm Water Beaches or The Piers which is absolutely free.
- There isn’t much to do in South Africa apart from visiting museums.
As much as we are known for our game/wildlife and history that we are proud of, there’s so much more to see and experience in the country. For instance, if you’re travelling to the Western Cape after having booked our flights to Cape Town then be sure to visit the many winelands, famous Table Mountain and Namaqualand that Cape Town can so easily boast about. We also have a myriad of tourist attractions such as Robben Island, Apartheid Museum, and the Cradle of Humankind that are a once in a lifetime opportunity.
When it comes to travelling, then your options of having a good time should be limitless. No matter your budget or type of crowd you’re travelling with, there is always something to do for everyone.
So be sure to browse through our flights specials and book a flight to the tourist attraction that piques your interest the most.
