SA 1340: Durban – Port Elizabeth JOHANNESBURG, 12 November 2007. Ms. Maistry was denied boarding on South African Express flight SA 1340 between Durban and Port Elizabeth. This was due to the fact that this flight was overbooked. Overbooking is practiced in the airline industry. This is to compensate for the high percentage of no shows and to avoid seat spoilage. It is not South African Express policy to deny boarding to its valuable passengers for any other reason in this instance. It is unfortunate that Ms. Maistry was denied boarding from the flight.
