Flights between Johannesburg and Bulawayo are now open for sale!

Why flying is still the best form of travel

Breaking news: You’ve just been told that from this day on, there is a worldwide ban on flying. This means that you’ll never be able to book a flight from Durban to East London…ever! What’s the first thing that springs to mind?
Perhaps it’s not advisable to say it out loud…
But why is it that we prefer flying so much as opposed to driving?
Flights are fast
Emergencies arise and sometimes we need to get to a different town ASAP. To drive from Johannesburg to Cape Town can take in excess of 14 hours – and you’d probably want to sleep over in between, but in an aeroplane, you’re there in two hours. Flights to Pilanesberg from Cape Town takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes. Try driving and you’ll get there in about 15 hours if you’re lucky.
They’re convenient
If you need to book a flight to George, all you have to do is go on an airline’s website, make your domestic flight booking and voilà. You’ll be able to see what flights are available on your preferred travel days and be able to look for the best deal.
It’s the only way to get there
It may be a long haul – the longest flight reportedly takes 18 hours and 10 minutes to complete – but you’re guaranteed to get there. You cannot drive from South Africa to America, but you sure can fly there.
You can relax
Driving is stressful. In a plane you can just sit back and relax. If you have a sentimental attachment to your blanky or a favourite travelling pillow feel free to bring it for extra comfort. Taking a nap to pass time is a great idea.
Bring your own entertainment
You can watch movies on your laptop or listen to your tunes on your smartphone. You need never be bored, so book your flight and go check out the Big 5 then sit back, relax and enjoy the luxury of the best form of travelling!
