Remember your essential carry-on items
Your hand luggage is super important for a flight. There’s nothing worse than realising you’re freezing cold and your only jersey is packed away nicely in your hold luggage. So to make sure you’re fully prepared for flying this summer, make sure you have a few essential items in your hand luggage.
First off is the jersey we just mentioned! It might be boiling outside, but remember that you’ll be thousands of feet in the air and that it tends to get a bit chilly on the flights themselves. Bring a warm jersey so you don’t get cold when that air conditioning starts blowing.
Anyone who spends a lot of time outside in summer will know how important baby wipes are when it gets hot and sticky outside. You can easily get rid of sun cream, sweat and dust with a quick wipe of your face. They’re also really useful for travel when your lunch misses your mouth, the person next to you knocks over his coke or if you just want to feel clean and fresh after a few hours on a plane. Plus, baby wipes don’t carry the same airline restrictions as liquid sanitiser, facewashes or anything similar so they’re perfect for travelling with.
A good book to stick your nose into
Summer holidays are one of the only times where you get a chance to really relax and unwind. So after you’ve congratulated yourself on finding great cheap flights to the perfect holiday spot, settle down and take out a guilty pleasure book. Whether you’re a sucker for a soppy romance, can’t wait to get stuck into a thrilling crime novel or you secretly love indulging in celeb autobiographies, summer holidays are undoubtedly the most enjoyable time to read them.
A travel guide
Of course, if your destination is new to you then a travel guide is a no brainer. They easy to transport and won’t fail you if the cellphone signal is bad, and the information is well organised, making it less overwhelming than searching the internet for the best things to do, see and eat. Have a browse over it on the plane and circle or highlight the things you really want to see or do. Before you know it, you’ll be touching down in your holiday spot with a whole itinerary already forming in your head!
Even if you’re going to a city you think you know like the back of your hand, why not try picking up a travel guide and seeing what it suggests? You never know, you may just stumble upon some things you hadn’t known about before, or decide that your favourite city’s tourist spots are worth seeing again.
